About the Film:

In Haiti, the women known as Madan Sara are the backbone of the economy. These incredible women work tirelessly, buying, distributing, and selling food and essential goods throughout the country’s markets. Despite facing intense challenges, including lack of investment, poor infrastructure, and limited state assistance, they continue to provide for their families and communities, playing a vital role in keeping the Haitian economy afloat.

Madan Sara tells the stories of these indefatigable women who overcome enormous obstacles, showing their resilience, strength, and determination. Their hard work supports their families, educates their children, and builds a better future for the next generation. The film not only highlights their economic contributions but also amplifies their voices as they share their hopes and dreams for a more just and equitable Haiti.

Why You Should Watch:

This documentary sheds light on the often-overlooked contributions of Haitian women, offering an intimate look at their lives, their sacrifices, and the social stigma they face. It is a poignant reminder of the power of women in shaping economies, lifting families out of poverty, and fostering positive change in society.
