Exciting Updates for the Kiwi Kit Community Trust, Soon To Be: Lakes Multicultural Collective

Exciting Updates for the Future Of Kiwi Kit Community Trust

As 2024 comes to a close, we are thrilled to share some exciting updates from our organisation. At our recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), significant changes were made to further strengthen our mission of fostering connection, inclusivity, and support for the multicultural communities of the Queenstown Lakes district.

Introducing Our New Name: Lakes Multicultural Collective

One of the most transformative decisions made at the AGM was the approval of a new name for our trust: Lakes Multicultural Collective. This change reflects our commitment to representing the vibrant diversity of our community and our vision for building meaningful connections across cultures.

While our official updated brand & website launch is scheduled for early 2025, you’ll start to see the new name gradually introduced over the next few months. We can’t wait to share our refreshed look and renewed energy with you!

Welcoming Our New Board Members

We are also delighted to introduce three incredible individuals who have joined our Board of Trustees. Their diverse backgrounds and wealth of experience will bring fresh perspectives and energy to our organisation.

Unaisi Kata-Vusoya (Una) - Originally from Fiji, Una has called Queenstown her second home for the past six years. With a 24-year career as a spa therapist and a deep passion for fostering personal connections, Una brings both professional expertise and a nurturing spirit to the trust. Her leadership journey includes completing the Governance Mentoring Program by Volunteer South/Huddl, preparing her to contribute meaningfully as a Trustee.

Una is committed to supporting our multicultural community and mentoring others, guided by her belief that "you don’t have to travel the world; the world is here around you."

Callum Clark - Callum’s extensive background in youth development, non-profit governance, and organisational strategy makes him an invaluable addition to the board. From aligning youth programmes with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to serving as Vice-President of YMCA New Zealand, Callum’s passion for creating positive change shines through.

Currently working as a General Manager in the hotel industry, he looks forward to contributing his strategic expertise to the long-term success of the Lakes Multicultural Collective.

Rene Smith - Born in Nelson, Rene’s career has taken him across the globe, from working as an educator with the Science Alive Charitable Trust to participating in Japan’s JET Programme.

A lover of diverse cultures, Rene moved to Queenstown in 2024 and has already embraced the region’s welcoming spirit. With experience in education and community building, Rene brings a passion for fostering connections and celebrating the rich diversity of our region.

Looking Ahead

These updates mark an exciting new chapter for our organisation. With our new Board members and the upcoming rebranding to Lakes Multicultural Collective, we are more motivated than ever to continue our mission of building a stronger, more inclusive diverse community.

We’re so grateful for the support of everyone in our community, and we look forward to sharing this journey with you. Stay tuned for more updates and ways to get involved as we step into this exciting new era together.
