Serving Sausages, Building Community: A Huge Thanks to Bunnings Queenstown

This month, the Lakes Multicultural Collective (formerly known as The Kiwi Kit Community Trust) fired up the BBQs for two incredible fundraising sausage sizzles at Bunnings Queenstown—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support we received!

A big thank you to our volunteers!

Our first sizzling session took place on Thursday 5th December during Bunnings’ Family Night event. The evening was buzzing with energy as kids and their parents enjoyed fun activities while checking off their holiday shopping lists. The Lakes Multicultural Collective team was proud to be on hand, serving up delicious sausages. While the sausages were free, the generosity of our community shone through, with koha donations flowing in to support our fundraising goals.

The second sausage sizzle followed on Saturday 14th December, where we served hungry shoppers who were hard at work on their summer DIY projects. Sausages were a bargain at $2.50, but we were blown away by the incredible generosity of many shoppers, with some donating up to $20 for a single sausage!

Across the two days, we raised a total of $530—an amazing result that will go directly towards supporting our future community events and initiatives.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Volunteers

These events wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing volunteers who stepped up to assist Liz on the BBQ. Your enthusiasm, hard work, and friendly smiles kept everything running smoothly and ensured we could serve up sausages with heart. We’re so grateful for the time and energy you gave to help us raise funds for our community projects. You’re the true champions of this success!

Gratitude to Bunnings Queenstown

This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from Bunnings Queenstown. Not only did they host these opportunities for us to connect with the community and fundraise, but they have also been invaluable supporters of our Community Garden Project, generously donating garden tools to help bring this initiative to life.

Thank you, Denise!

Their ongoing support highlights the power of community partnerships, and we’re truly grateful for their commitment to making a difference in Queenstown.

What’s Next?

We’re so excited to use these funds to continue delivering events and initiatives that bring people together, foster connections, and support our growing multicultural community. If you haven’t yet joined us at one of our events, keep an eye on our website and social media—everyone is always welcome!

Once again, a huge thank you to Bunnings Queenstown and to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a sausage, and supported us. Your kindness and generosity remind us of the incredible community spirit here in Queenstown.

Stay tuned for what’s next—we’re just getting started!
