Supporting Our Future Leaders: The First Connected MSD Session

Creating Pathways for Employment, Education, and Empowerment in Queenstown

On 9 August, the Kiwi Kit Community Trust had the privilege of organising a MSD Connected pop up session for the Fijian Youth Community.

Hosted by Tash O’Connell from Connected MSD, this session was designed to discuss crucial topics such as employment, education, and training opportunities.

The event provided a supportive space for young Fijians within our community to explore various pathways for their future. Participants gained valuable insights and resources that can help them navigate their career journeys and educational pursuits.

One of the key tools provided was MSD Connected's Careers Advice, which offers guidance on career pathways, CV assistance, and tips for job searching (Explore Careers Advice). Additionally, the young Fijians had the opportunity to learn about Courses and Apprenticeships, which provide practical training and education opportunities to help them develop new skills and qualifications (Explore Courses and Apprenticeships). The session also highlighted Pathways to Work, offering immediate job opportunities and support for those ready to enter the workforce (Explore Pathways to Work).

These tools all aim to equip the youth with the knowledge and resources needed to build successful futures.

The Kiwi Kit Community Trust is committed to empowering the youth of all cultures & backgrounds within our community by ensuring they have access to the information and support they need to succeed.

This collaboration with MSD Connected was the first of its kind and we hope to replicate it for the many other subcultures within the diverse Queenstown community, so if you know of any cultural leaders who would like to work with us to coordinate a similar meeting for their youth, please reach out!

A big thank you goes out to Tash O’Connell from Connected, and to everyone who attended for making this session a success! We look forward to recreating it again in the future.
